Tattoo and Body Art

Tattoo and body art is the only art form along with make-up that is used on the body.
Tattoo artists are extremely artistic. They require a skill and a steady hand to illustrate a design. They get only one chance at applying ink on the skin and there is no room for mistakes. The ink they use can be of a variety of colours unlike in the past when most tattoos were of a dark green or black tone. Any design can be reproduced from images of flowers, animals, fairies, pin-up girls, celtic, cultural, religion and so on.
Tattoos can be placed anywhere on the body that has skin and it is purely up to the client on how much pain they would want to go through. It is through the bobbing of a set of needles into the layers of skin that changes the pigmentation and creates an image. This is permanent and can not be washed off. Other forms of body art such a henna tattoos, stickers or body paint are temporary ways of decorating the body and can be used for fun by those who feel they may regret or lose interest in a proper tattoo or for cultural reasons.
There are many tattoo and body art studios around the world that are easily accessible. A customer can walk in, view the designs on display or in folders and choose what they would like tattooed. Some customers bring along their personal designs that they would like replicated in a tattoo. There is then a process of hygiene and cleaning of the skin before the needles and machine is used.
There are different designs for both men and women. Some of the designs for women have finer lines, more colours and basically are more feminine. The men’s designs can have an element of aggression, thicker lines, bigger images and generally be more masculine, however, there is no hard and fast rule to this.
There are also meanings behind certain symbols and the positioning of tattoos on the body and therefore, aside from the history and the taboo, tattoo and body art has become more popular and acceptable as a form of expression.
