Fine art and artists work on projects that are not necessarily commercial, however, they are a business and engage in profit generating ventures. They can make their pieces to be seen in exhibitions or galleries where they are sold and some are commissioned by corporates or private collectors who pay large amounts of money for a 'one-off' piece of art.

The term, fine art, is used to describe paintings, sculptures, ceramics, wood carving, glass painting and other very artistic workings of creatives better known as fine artists. Maybe the word ‘fine’ is given to the painstakingly detailed and time consuming aspect undertaken by that artist. They are extremely creative and work very much on their own, omitting any requirements of being team players. However, that said, they would most probably commission help when needed.

There is some confusion of what is regarded as fine art or visual or performing art. One can overlap the other in the way that a scriptwriter or a ballerina can be considered as both visual or performing artists as well as fine artists in their own right. The term, fine art, is usually given to something that is perfected in its entirety and a fine artist is the maker of that.

Fine art and artists have been around from the beginning of time and their work lives on in national galleries, cathedrals and museums. With the change of technology and the way we conduct ourselves as artists have evolved for many centuries and nothing is regarded right or wrong. It is purely how an artist sees his or her world at the time of their work. Some say that fine art is all about drawing and painting and that of the absence of the use of a computer. But if we take a closer look, then we will see that those computer programmers and designers who make our internet systems and information technology for commercial means, in their raw stage, are known to have perfected their art first before it is utilised by many.

Fine art and artists have created a cultural movement all of its own culminating from theatres to studios for our mutual understanding of the way the world perceived themselves through cultural and social interests.
