Film Jobs

Film jobs are not as easy to obtain as jobs in other creative fields as there are usually fewer publicised job vacancies than there are people to fill them. Someone who wants to work in film, will usually start off as a runner before making their way up to the position that they want to specialise in.
Unlike having a qualification that guarantees a position in that field, working in film is slightly more difficult to penetrate. It is more of being seen and heard then applying for a post with a CV. The more people that know you and your work within the film industry, the more likely you are to be first in line to fill a job. As the film industry is a large money generating business, the choice of candidate would have to show enthusiasm, professionalism and some experience in being able to handle the task at hand.
Film jobs are categorised into the main areas of filmmaking from the developmental stage of scriptwriting and financing to the production of shooting the film; to post production and editing, and finally to the distribution of the film.
The various job vacancies on offer can be found through online recruitment agencies however, searching on your own and being proactive in your approach is of an advantage. Picking up the phone and calling production companies or studio facilities and finding out about upcoming films can give one a greater chance of finding the right personnel and the right job within the industry. Some jobs can be created for the right candidate purely on what they can offer to a film than necessarily filling a vacancy.
Certain film productions have known to recruit graduates from film schools directly as they know the level of expertise taught to them during their course and therefore, they have a guarantee that what these filmmakers have learnt is in accordance to what is expected of them in the industry. Thus, to obtain employment, one must search in the places that give information on the goings-on within the film industry and film productions and, that are in their developmental stage of building on their crew personnel by offering openings through film jobs.
