Music video production is similar to a normal video production but this involves making music videos. A musician or singer would have a track that they require a video for in order to show it on the screen for television music channels and so forth. Their track will be listened to on radio but a video needs to be filmed to show that track on screen. In most videos, the performing artist is present on location and therefore, providing for that artist’s comfort alone can be costly.

A large concentration of these types of production companies are based in areas that have a striving music industry such as Los Angeles or London. Some companies may also, along with music, provide services for television commercials and other short film based productions.

Music videos can be viewed anywhere, on a monitor or wall projection in a nightclub, function venue or on a television screen in the home and therefore, the target audience is very broad. The programs and video software systems used in editing suites are similar to that of a film production. Most music videos are produced in this way as they are short pieces, but maintain the highest resolution and playback quality.
