Radio and Club DJs

Radio and club DJs mix live or recorded music and chat in real time heard through nightclubs and radio airwaves. DJ or Deejay is the abbreviation for Disc Jockey and those on radio, use their talent by talking to the public and provide artist’s music in-between. Their voices can be heard through the internet or other broadcasting channels that use sound waves. They are sometimes the first ones to introduce a new song or singer to us.
A club DJ on the other hand, plays and is present in dance clubs or other venues to initiate enjoyment to those attending. People will travel to various parts of the world to see certain DJs perform as their style of entertaining can create a wonderful dancing experience.
There are different types of disc jockeys, some are found within the hip-hop and reggae industries from using turntables and scratching records producing a different sound, to singing over recorded music and re-creating a new tune there and then.
Radio and club DJs work very hard and often work long shifts. They have to be extremely creative and confident to be able to be flawless in their performance. There is very little room for mistakes or interruptions in mixing music from one song to another. Their smoothness in the way they present determines their popularity and success. A disc jockey whether on live radio or live appearance, needs to provide continuous sound without any breakage as that would lose its audience and consequently money for the producers.
Some successful disc jockeys travel to various parts of the world to perform in popular discotheques, nightclubs or concerts to a large audience and in some places would require the equipment used to be portable. They would also need to transport cases of the vinyl records or discs for their set and sometimes it may feel like they are carrying their portfolios wherever they go.
To become successful and professional in every sense needs much practice and it is the more experienced talents and the public’s fondness of the radio and club DJs that rise from competition.
