Post production companies offer facilities and services within the film, television and multimedia industries of the final stages of a production. There are three main aspects of any given production, first we have the pre-production stage whereby, most of the paperwork and ideas are generated followed by the shoot itself. Everything that needs to be recorded through the camera and sound equipments is done at the production or shooting stage and completed during a certain time period. Once the shooting is completed then we automatically come into the post production phase of the project.

In post production, all the hard work put into the shoot now needs to be edited and cleaned up to make the final film for distribution. The ‘rushes’ (rough cut) of a film are sent to a post production facility where a team of highly experienced and qualified people start to create the film as it should look on screen. Here the sound and audio side of the production is weaved into the visuals recorded, and then edited to perfection. Many amateur filmmakers leave little time for post production, thinking that most of the work is already completed in the shooting stage. They fail to realise that the rushes have to be checked to see if it is of the right output and that everything has gone according to plan. If not, then a re-shoot may be required. Therefore, a good amount of time should be allocated for the post production stage.
